The Space with Humble Philosophy

Interior Design

This is a compact interior design for a residential space. The owner, an amiable person who likes to collect comic dolls, inspired the designer's main strategy for this project. The goal was to arrange the demonstration of some details to enlarge the spatial feelings and fulfill the owner's characteristics and collection hobby.

The visual process from the entry hall to the living room includes showcases of the comic dolls on the turning way to catch visual attention. This spatial strategy not only creates interesting visual focuses for the experience of passing through but also enhances the fluent feelings when moving through the path spaces. It is an efficient way to eliminate any restrained feelings when turning through the pathway.

The random arrangement of cubes on the showcases generates a brisk atmosphere and stretches the horizontal visual effect, enlarging the living room. The walls in the reading room are decorated with comic doll shelves made of wood and glass materials. These shelves link the spaces of the reading room, restaurant, and living room. The most special part of these wall shelves is the creation of curved faces, connecting with the glass wall between the restaurant and the living room.

By effectively stretching the horizontal visual effect from the reading room, the designer was able to tangibly enlarge the whole space. In this project, several spatial disadvantages were transformed into unique features, showcasing the designer's talent and instinct.

The project was completed in 2016 in Taiwan by Jui-Hsiang Pai of Zhi-Wu Interior Design.

This Design was awarded Bronze in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. The Bronze A' Design Award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Esteemed for incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, they exhibit strong technical and creative skills and contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
